With gas hovering around $4 a gallon, your dreams of a cross-country road trip may be going up in fumes. For those concerned about fuel efficiency and seeking a seaside getaway, the Historic Inns of Rockland have begun offering a gas saving vacation package. Now through October, book a three-day midweek stay at Berry Manor Inn, Captain Lindsey House or LimeRock Inn and you'll get a free "No Fueling Around" tune up (worth more than $55). This customized tune up at Eastern Tire includes an air filter change (15% gas savings), an air pressure check, tire inflation and a tire gauge (7% savings). When you leave, you'll go home with "Drive Green Not Mean" tips and a reusable shopping bag.

This tune up will help to save at least 20 pounds of carbon dioxide from being created with each gallon of gasoline not burned. All the historic inns are within walking distance of the harbor, shops, restaurants and museums in downtown Rockland. FMI call 877-762-4667 or visit historicinnsofrockland.com.
