10/23/08 - Moosehead Lake First Snowfall dusts the Mountains What a beautiful sight - snowcapped mountains glistening in the sun... We are now gearing up for winter vacations here at The Cozy Moose. Snowmobile season is just around the cornor and the snowmobile grooming program for 2008-2009 is in place. Rumor has it that Squaw Mountain may have both the upper and the lower mountain open this year. This has not been confirmed by any source.

Maine Wildlife Sightings - Guests from Ohio spent their family vacation with us in our Log Cabin looking for Moose and other Maine Wildlife. The final tally was 34 moose, 5 deer, 3 raccoons, 2 loons, 1 turtle, 1 garden snake and a variety birds. They all had a wonderful time and hope to visit again. June and early July are the best time to spot moose on self guided tours. Guided moose tours are available that depart from your lakeside cabins and increase the probabilty of seeing moose especially later in the summer and into the fall. Its not too late to plan an exciting Maine summer vacation getaway at The Cozy Moose Lakeside Cabins on Moosehead Lake. Short term summer rentals available for three nights or more.
