The Dixie III was a rum runner speedboat that ran ashore in dense fog in the Kittery/York area while delivering bootleg liquor to that area. The date of the wreck was in the late 1920's, or early 30's before repeal of prohibition. Local fishermen salvaged the cargo of Belgian alcohol which was floating in the area of the wreck. My mother told me of this event. Is there any information available about this event?
