Portland has a ridiculous amount of restaurants - check out listings and review at the Maine Switch's Greater Portland Restaurant Guide - www.themaineswitch.com. Some of my favorites are Ruskis (breakfast all day!), Yosaku and Bull Feeney's.

For awesome pizza check out Siano's Pizzeria on Brentwood Street (near Deering High) or Bonobo in the West End. You can get great pub food and Red Sox baseball games at Samuel's on outer Forest and the best chowder in the city lives at Gilbert's on Commercial.

If you're looking for plant-based meals, you've come to the right spot. Portland is a Mecca of vegetarian eating. Some of my favorites include Green Elephant, Pom's Thai Taste, Silly's, Pepper Club, White Heart & Granny's Burritos. This link to Commune Tested, City Approved has addresses and web links for most of these restaurants. Granny's Burritos just reopened and you can find more details in this review I wrote for The Maine Switch Magazine.

Try Ricettas in South Portland. They have great pizza. Found some other good suggestions on http://www.mainecoastlife.com
