About Bath

BATH OCCUPIES 12.5 square miles on a narrow, 5-mile-long peninsula along the west bank of the Kennebec River. It is the Sagadahoc County seat. The city incorporated in 1781 and took its name from Bath, England.

THE EARLIEST recorded shipbuilding venture in Bath was in 1743 by Jonathan Philbrook and his sons.
