Kittery is located near the mouth of the Piscataqua river and is home to the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, one of the oldest and largest navel shipyards in the United States. Visitors interested in shipbuilding and colonial and civil war history may visit the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard Museum.
