The celebrations in Cumberland and Fryeburg make the next two weeks among Maine's most fun.

Maine's agricultural fairs have been going on for almost three months, celebrating the state's agricultural tradition.

There are only two left, and they are big ones: The Cumberland Fair serves the Portland area and all of Cumberland County. And the Fryeburg Fair, in the peak of foliage season, in a beautiful area and the largest fair in Maine.

What that means is that the next two weeks will be full of fair food, carnival rides, entertainment, games, lots of farm animals and horse racing. It is an outstanding time to be in Maine

Sept. 27-Oct. 3, Cumberland Fair, Cumberland Center, large exhibit halls, midway, and livestock exhibits. Animal pulling events and harness racing. Contact Gerry Prevost at 797-2789 or visit www.cumberlandfair.com

Oct. 4-11, Fryeburg Fair, Maine's largest agricultural fair. Beautiful setting in prime foliage time. Exhibit halls, museum, harness racing and livestock shows. Contact June Hammond at 935-3268 or www.fryeburgfair.org
